Rumors are rampant that Starbucks locations in New York will no longer make their bathrooms available to the public. Officially, Starbucks is strenuously denying these rumors. Company sources say long lines that slow down employees who need to use the facilities are behind the decision. Insiders claim that the real reason is that Starbucks is “tired of being New York’s public toilet.”

The New York Times recently announced that Marriott international will soon break ground on a 68-story high-rise in midtown Manhattan. While the size of the project is notable—it is the largest new hotel project in New York in almost a decade—what is really interesting is that the property will house two different hotels from the Marriott brand portfolio. According to the Times article, the project, which will carry the rather clumsy and awkward name The Courtyard and Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park will include a 378-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel and a “separate” 261-room Residence Inn by Marriott hotel.
