Dear Diary, 

Firstly, my apologies for the lapse in entries. We were once so close—but now I can’t remember when I last wrote you. Remember how in high school, at the start of each academic year, a brand new you would be handed to us for jotting down our class schedule, penciling-in due dates and highlighting those all-important holidays on the calendar? Of course, as an angst-filled teenager, I would also whisper my deepest thoughts to you. The simple act of turning thoughts into clearly written words made them easier to understand. Which makes me wonder—when did we start to part ways?

Since the world first embraced news and information in digital form (computers, portable devices, etc.), reports aplenty have predicted the end of print. As titles fold and papers paint an ever-gloomier picture of the state of their industry, the days of commuters wrestling with broadsheets are numbered.
