A successful brand wiped out overnight. As George Orwell observed in 1946 when describing the perfect Sunday, “you put your feet up on the sofa, settle your spectacles on your nose, and open the News of the World.” How ironic that what brought down the paper was invasive voyeurism of the big brother variety.

Here in the UK the Consumer Protection and Markets Authority will soon become the Financial Conduct Authority. Interesting. What does this mean for consumers? What does it mean for clear, concise and credible explanation of financial products and financial reporting to consumers?
