Since the mid-90’s, the internet has been impacting human culture and commerce, yet rarely do we ever stop and think about where we would be without it. Instead, it is far more common for us to take it for granted and get frustrated over faulty service, or a millisecond-difference in processor speed or performance.

From the revolutionary creation and adoption of electronic mail to the everything-mobile world we live in today, the internet has given us no lack of innovation or improvement over the years.

With that ever-changing nature has come many more dynamic means of near-instant communication, along with the ability for nearly 2.3 billion people worldwide to connect with virtually anyone.

In 2011, 300 million new websites were added to the internet, creating a total of 550 million website worldwide. As a result of this increase, the way we find, read, and share information is entirely different than the way we used that same content even a year ago.

This powerful change has directly affected the news industry with 65% of people today getting their news online. This has forced traditional newspapers to find new ways to fulfill consumer needs and access breaking stories faster – whether it be via social media networks such as Twitter, or mobile applications.

It has also made a significant impact on the American higher education industry with more institutions offering course credit online. This forces traditional universities to either lower tuition rates to compete with affordability or offer their own means of online education.

Regardless of which the industry the internet has impacted, the only constant across them is change. The way we access information and purchase products will only continue to transform, and businesses in every industry must be aware of that to successfully adapt.

The history of the internet is nothing new, but the demand for online and mobile marketing services is – and as a global company with six locations worldwide and the recent Marketing Services Company of the Year title, Ve Interactive is confident that we can create an effective digital marketing strategy that will meet and exceed your business needs.
